This tablet is a combination of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid. It is used in the treatment of certain infections caused by bacteria, including infections of the lungs, ears, sinus, skin, and urinary tract. Amoxicillin is a penicillin-like antibiotics. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitors. It works by preventing bacteria from destroying amoxicillin.

This tablet is a combination of two medicines: amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin is an penicillin-like antibiotic. It acts by resisting the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is vital for the survival of bacteria. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that decreases resistance and enhances the activity of amoxycillin against bacteria.

Absorption: absorption of this medication when taken with food is greater relative to the fasted state.
Distribution: clavulanic acid is approximately 25% bound to human serum and amoxicillin approximately 18% bound. Amoxicillin diffuses into most body tissues and fluids with the exception of the brain and cerebrospinal fluid.
Metabolism: after administration the half life of amoxicillin is 1.3 hr and that of clavulanic acid is 1 hr .
Excretion: approximately 50 to 70% of the amoxicillin and 25 to 40% of the clavulanic acid is excreted unchanged in urine during the first 6 hours after administration.

This medication passes into breast milk , thus it is advised to consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Elderly patients may be more sensitive to this drug as this medication is generally removed by the kidney which declines to function with age.
These tablet may cause side effects such as dizziness, allergic reactions, or fits which could affect your ability to drive.
